Liquid stone: what is a selection criteria

Intensely unfolding cottage and suburban construction requires new materials and new technologies. Their appearance provides each house with a completely individual appearance. One of the most interesting and promising technologies is the revolutionary technology of “liquid stone”. It is based on staining artificial stone made of decorative concrete, which is characterized by high strength and frost resistance.

Liquid stone is a chemical dye for concrete products. This dye penetrates the concrete surface due to the presence of hydrochloric acid in it. A reaction of liquid stone occurs directly with the minerals of cement, as a result of which the color of the processed surface changes.

Due to this processing, the surface becomes immune to the effects of alkalis, organic solvents and ultraviolet rays. The surface treated with the composition of the “liquid stone” will not fade, exfoliate, peel and crack, will not darken over time. Liquid stone will make its service life much longer.

The technology “liquid stone” can be considered on the example of the manufacture of artificial stone.

First, a cast is made from natural stone, on the basis of which a soft polyurethane shape is made, and after that, a concrete mixture, evenly painted throughout its volume. It is poured into forms on vibro strokes, under the influence of vibration it becomes more dense and completely fills the polyurethane shape. When the shape is removed, they get exactly the same texture as in natural stone. Thus, the sale of natural stone and the technology of liquid stone provide interchangeability.

At the next stage, the concrete surface is etched by a “liquid stone”. The dye is applied to the surface with a brush or sprayer for three hours, while the chemical reaction will continue. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated. After it is possible to achieve the desired result, the remnants of the chemical reaction are simply removed with a brush, and the surface is washed with water.
