Foundation examination: how to do it competently

Any activity aimed at monitoring and analysis of what has already been done is perceived with some alertness and fear. Why? The desire for optimization (for example, to save time, money or someone else’s effort), a “creative” mind or simply unwillingness to perform instructions and negligence-this is an incomplete list of reasons why the examination is simply necessary, especially in construction. There are many cases of spontaneous destruction of the entire building or its structural parts, which led to damage to property and, moreover, the death of people. The foundation of buildings requires special scrupulousness, since the stability of the entire structure and the life of the entire structure depends on its quality. As a result, the most popular service is an examination of the foundation, especially at present, when the volumes and terms of construction are increasing, and competition among manufacturers of building materials is growing. The examination of the foundation can be divided into two types. The first group is an examination of the foundations of old buildings. It is necessary in several cases. First of all, in the case of the restoration of the building, you need to know exactly what the reliability of the foundation. Otherwise, funds and efforts will be wasted. In addition, today there is more than one way to strengthen the foundations, examination will also help to find the optimal. The superstructure of another or more floors, changes in the rafter system and roof also require the examination of the foundation of the already built buildings, since the load on the base changes sharply, to the soil. And the latter, thus, is investigating the influence of nearby new buildings on old buildings. In this case, an examination is needed in dynamics – before the construction of new buildings and after. The second group of foundation examinations is for new buildings. It is best to make them at each of the stages of construction in order to monitor possible negative changes in the quality of the foundation, because the number of storeys of buildings directly affects this.
